Common Thyme |
There are several variants of Thyme which are all extracted from Thymus vulgaris (also known as Common Thyme) but with different chemical compositions. Common Thyme can be quite harsh on the skin, so it’s recommended to use other types of Thyme essential oils that are gentle and non-irritant.
Our Essential Oil of the Month Benchmark Thyme has a unique combination of four ethically grown Thyme cultivars (Thymus zygis + other chemotypes) offering an effective composition of anti-bacterial aroma-chemicals while being skin-friendly. In fact, a number of researches have shown that Benchmark Thyme exhibited the strongest bactericidal effect in comparison with other Thyme chemotypes and Tea Tree oils.
