What’s your favorite aromatherapy book at the moment? Any recommendations of must-reads? In this week’s Aromatherapy Q & A you’ll find 3 books that you should add to your reading list:
Jodie (Current Student):
I recommend Gisela Cheung’s book “香薰䕶理手冊”. The reason why I like it is because it’s very easy to understand. The book also features some blended formula – they are really useful and also help me to understand the function of essential oils.

My favorite book is “Aroma: The Cultural History of Smell” by Zygmunt Bauman. It explains why we are drawn to certain aromatic oils – an understanding may be found in this great book which explores the history of scent and its role in healing, magic, ritual and intimacy.

My personal recommendation is Kurt Schnaubelt’s book “Advanced Aromatherapy - The science of Essential Oil Therapy”. This is a book for us who practice aromatherapy the "English" way to know more about the "French-German" way. It is also an excellent guide for aromatherapists to choose essential oils for their clients through the conclusive system introduced to connect essential oils and their effects.
Another “must-have” aromatherapy book in your library should be Robert Tisserand’s updated version of his comprehensive guide “Essential Oil Safety” which will be available end of September. We will do a bulk pre-order so please email us if you would like to reserve your copy!
