Our favorite oils for the beautiful month of July are Geranium and Neem. Here are the profiles of these wonderful plants:

Family: Geraniaceae family

Extraction: Leaves / Flowers

Extraction Method:
Steam distillation

Country: North Africa

Chemical Group: Citronellol, Geraniol

Actions: Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, menstrual regulator, hormone regulator

Uses: Traditional use as an insecticide, nematicide and antifungal. Good use for skin care (acne and oily skin), odema, poor circulation and cellulitis, premenstrual syndrome and menopause as well as for nervous tension and stress

Blends well with:  Lavender, Bergamot, Palmarosa, Tea Tree, Manuka

Contra-indications: Avoid on sensitive skin

Neem Oil at APA
Family: Meliaceae                                               

Extraction: Seeds

Extraction Method: Cold Pressed

Country: Africa and India

Chemical Constituents: Mainly oleic acid,
palmitic acid and stearic acid, rich in tocopherols

Actions: Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, antiseptic

Uses: Effective in inhibiting viral and fungal infections such as warts, candida etc.; for treatment of skin disorders such as rashes, ringworm; also effective for preventing dandruff and treating head lice in hair
 
Blends well with: A very rich oil, provides intense lubrication and blends best with thinner carrier oils
