Course Highlight: Acupressure in First Aid

Acupressure in First Aid

Would you know how to help someone in a case of emergency while waiting for an ambulance to arrive? These minutes are crucial for saving lives by providing immediate first aid. In our upcoming course "Acupressure in First Aid" students are going to learn an effective way to relief the symptoms of casualties before medical officers can take over.

What is Acupressure in First Aid?

The concept of combining acupressure and first aid was developed by Dr. Patrick Yeung in 1973 and it is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. By stimulating certain acupuncture points - which are associated with specific body parts - organs and physiological functions, first aiders can influence the flow of energy and help treat common accidents and emergencies.

How does Acupressure in First Aid work?

In this first aid acupressure course students will learn to recognize and operate 18 acupuncture points with finger pressure in order to treat 11 selected emergency conditions in a safe, easy and proven effective way. It is a simple technique that can be also used in addition to traditional first aid procedures.

The acupressure first aid course is jointly held by the Royal Life-saving Society Hong Kong Branch (RLSS HKB) and the Acupressure in First Aid Federation Hong Kong (AFAF HK). Upon successful completion, students will be awarded with a certificate and a woven badge.
