Essential Oil of the Month: Inula graveolens

Inula graveolens essential oil

Are you currently fighting off a bad cold & flu? This month’s Essential Oil is not widely used, but has powerful mucolytic, antispasmodic, expectorant and astringent properties: Inula graveolens.

Originally found in Asia, this medicinal plant is now cultivated throughout the world. Inula belongs to the Asteraceae (Compositae) family and features a deep green color with a honey-like aroma. The Inula essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the roots and rhizomes.

What are Inula’s prominent actions?

Especially valuable for treating chronic conditions such as chronic bronchitis that haven’t been responding well to other treatments, Inula essential oil is of great benefit as it has the power of breaking down mucus and help the body to get rid of it. Inula is therefore widely used for:

- Colds & Coughs

- Catarrh

- Sinusitis

- Earache

- Asthma

Blending well with Bergamot, Cedarwood, Coriander, Cypress, Frankincense, Lavender and Patchouli, it is best used in a diffuser or as pillow oil before bedtime.

Inula essential oil supplies are limited and can therefore be quite expensive. However, our Essential Oil of the Month is now on special offer for a short time only and while stock lasts! See our promotion and purchase here: Inula graveolens
